Back from Hols

The coastline outside Puerto del Carmen

The view from our bungalow

We've been away in sunny Lanzarote for the past two weeks so I'm only now catching up with things at home. Including good ol' blogland. I'll be visiting all my bloggy people soon to catch up with you all.
We had a very relaxing holiday. So relaxing in fact that it took us until Wednesday evening to realise that the clocks had gone forward the previous Saturday night. (Lanzarote is on GMT) "Now that's what I call a holiday," said my Dad when I told him. I suppose he's right. We didn't need to know the time. It didn't matter what time we ate. We had nowhere to be unless it was our own choice and there was nobody controlling our time except ourselves. We did a LOT of reading. A fair amount of walking and swimming. A LOT of sunbathing. The temperature is around 24 centigrade during the day and goes down to about 14 at night, so very comfortable indeed. We found out our oversight when 'im indoors went to a bar on Wednesday to watch the England game. He'd missed the first half so he asked the barman what the time was and our faux pas was revealed. Good job really. We were flying home the next day and would still have been eating our breakfast when the taxi arrived if we hadn't had the right time.

We walked into Puerto del Carmen one day. A distance of 6 kilometres. I was plum tuckered out I can tell you. So much so that we got the bus back. No point in getting completely exhausted I told 'im indoors. He would rather have got off the bus early and stopped for a beer in our favourite Irish bar but I was having none of it. I'd have locked up solid I reckon and would be there still - welded to the seat!

It's amazing how much the Noodles have grown while we've been away. Noodle two has a couple of new words. "Cheeky" and "peas" (for please). She's walking properly now and has a new pair of shoes to prove it.

We won't see Noodle 1 until Good Friday but we know from her Dad that she's full of beans as always.

It's lovely to see that the hedgerows have popped and spring is truly here. It really is great to be home.

Welcome back - wondered where you were Flick - good to see you again. Sounds like you had my sort of holiday. We know Puerto del Carmen very well but haven't visited for a few years now. The temperatures sound inviting too - just right.

Sounds like you had a really good holiday! What beautiful scenery! At least you've come home to a bit of sun, in this country, for a change. It certainly lifts your spirits, doesn't it?

t&C - that would have been awful.....wouldn't it?? xxx

Strawberry Jam Anne - Matagorda is much quieter than Puerto del Carmen but it suits us very well. Traffic free coastline too. Bliss. xx

Mean Mom - Yes it's great to have the sun out here too. I love the spring don't you?! xx

AWoNI - No lie ins here! Back to earth with a bump more like. xx

Working Mum - Duster flying as we speak! xx

Scrappy Sue - Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands and it's off the west coast of Africa, a four hour flight from UK. Lots of volcano cones and black sand - and hot all year round. We love it! xx
