In the Middle Ages.........

Wish I was here.......

It's a funny old world. At the beginning of October I was enjoying having my own space and looking forward to spending some time with my daughter while she is at home waiting for the birth of her first baby. As it turns out I've spent half my time down at my Mum's place 100 miles away as she is in hospital so I've been staying at her place so that I can visit, do her washing, shopping etc. Not that I mind looking after Mum, no that's not it at all. She's a joy to be with. It's just that this is the time I had wanted to be with my daughter instead of which I'm far away for three or four days every week. The travelling is very tiring too and what happened to the price of diesel all of a sudden?? I had got used to filling the car up once a month, now it's back to once a week. And, my windscreen got cracked by a stone on the motorway last week. Bastard! That's the second one this year!

Oh dear, this is turning into a rant and I didn't mean it too. It brings home the fact that I'm at at that difficult age when the children are adults but still need you to look after them sometimes and your parents are beginning to need you more! I don't think any other generation before mine found themselves looking after children, grandchildren and parents all at the same time.

I'm supposed to be doing my ironing now. Well, it's only me saying I should be doing my ironing so I suppose it's OK if I do it later. All the housework has slipped. Comes of trying to be in two places at once. Still never mind. The Christmas preparations will get done. Or not. The housework will get done. Or not. What will get done is whatever I fancy doing next! 'im indoors has gone to watch football up at the club where they have Sky TV. He made me a lovely roast dinner before he went though.

Tomorrow we are going to the nursery to see Noodle being an angel at the Christmas concert. Can't wait! Haven't seen her for a couple of weeks so we're really looking forward to it. She's bound to be gorgeous, can't help herself! In the afternoon I have to go over to the Red Cross loans place to pick up a wheelchair and a frame to fit round the loo. Mum's coming to us for Christmas you see and, things being as they are, we need these things now. Just another example of being in the "middle ages".....

Hope we all have a lovely Christmas and lots of happy days in 2008.
