Does anybody know when we should put out the black bin? Now we know it's not the silver bin, that was last week. The black bin has to go out this week but nobody came to collect on the usual day which was yesterday - and nobody came today either. How comes everybody in the street except us knew they wouldn't be emptying the black bins on the usual day? We think it's a conspiracy. Has to be. Nobody in the street has put a bin out this week so they must know something. But they're not saying anything.
Or is it because we didn't leave a Christmas tip!!!

You are one up on us. We don't have black bins and silver bins we only have maingy bags issued to us. You must live in an upmarket part of Lincolnshire!
But I'm with you on the neighbours thing. I thought that we were the only people in Lincolnshire that didn't understand the minds of the petty town hall refuse collection job worths.
Welcome to my world DS. I thought that we were the only people in Lincolnshire that didn't understand the minds of the petty "job worths" at the town hall refuse department.
You must live in an upmarket part of Lincolnshire. We are issued with mangy refuse bags, not posh bins like you.
Happy New Year to you and your family.
You must live in a very upmarket part of Lincolnshire. Where we live we only get mangy plastic bags. Black for waste and green for recycling. No bins.
I thought we were the only people that found the minds of the "job worths" at the refuse department unfathomable. Like you say, all the neighbours seem to have secret knowledge of collection days.
We used to have maingy bags but got two HUGE wheelie bins last year to replace them. I'm sure the bin culture will spread to you in time! And yes, this is, of course, the upmarket end of Lincolnshire! (I wish...)
