Lovely places, lovely people

The Noodles!

My little treasures. The paddly pool came out after Noodle 2 decided to sit in a bucket of water put out for the dog!

Me enjoying a walk at Sandringham

There are lots of walks through the Queens lands around Sandringham in Norfolk. This one goes from the camp site to Sandringham house, where the Royal Family spend Christmas, about a mile and a half without having to walk on any roads at all. There is a very nice visitor centre where we stopped for a cup of coffee and some homemade shortbread. We know how to live!!
Looking back on the path recently walked from Mam Tor, Derbyshire

We spent the whole day walking. The path took us to the summit of Mam Tor, seen here in the distance, then along the ridge to Losehill. On the right side of the ridge (in the picture) is the Edale Valley and on the left, the Hope Valley. The weather was perfect. We walked with friends of twenty years standing and the time passed in contented silence, each savouring the whisper of the breeze, the birdsong and the occasional bleat of a lamb. Speech unnecessary. Mobiles switched off. Bliss.

We made up for it back at the pub though!!

We're planning more trips away throughout the summer. Weather permitting. The camp site will be crowded once the schools break up. That's when we'll be on the boat. Our river has no hire companies on it so it is quiet, even in high season. The best bit for me though is that we don't have to book up. If the weather is right we can go! 'im indoors finishes work for good in three weeks time and then, my dears, the world is our lobster.

I'll be home just enough to do the washing, see the Noodles and visit blogland. What are you doing with your summer?

Gorgeous noodles!

I also enjoyed visiting Sandringham last year.
During the long school summer holidays, I hope to visit daughter & grandsons, catch up on friends and maybe have a long W/E away somewhere & try & get my garden & home in some kind of semblance again.

Enjoy yourself too!

Those rhodies look nearly as good as ours did! Unfortunately, the rain got to them today... awe.

You are so busy in your retirement. How ever did you find time to go to work ?

Maggie May - That's the plan!! xx

t&c - I thought that too. They've done really well to last this long. Did you take lots of pics? I did! (of your rhodies I mean) xxx

auntiegwen - I often ask myself that. Can't understand people who bleat, "but I don't know what I will DO when I retire". I couldn't wait!! xxxx

Yes, gorgeous noodles! I've done that walk along the ridge to Mam Tor, so it was nice to see it again (I did it with 14 year old pupils doing Duke of Edinburgh and learning to map read - very funny!)

Lovely photos of you and the Noodles! I'm glad that you've been having an enjoyable time and I hope that you and your husband have a great summer. Blogland is a poorer place now that you are rarely around, however and I hope that you will still be able to find a little time to post occasionally.

I don't think that we will be doing much in the summer as Student Son is a bit of a drain on our finances. We are hoping for some better weather, so that we can fit in more walks, however.
