See, we didn't miss the best of the azaleaSorry guys, we didn't take any views of Dorset as the holiday was more about being with my Dad and him seeing the babes. Needless to say he was thrilled with his new great granddaughter and overjoyed to see how much Noodle had grown. When describing the long journey from our home to Dorset Noodle described the after-lunch stint as "the second part of far away" which we all thought was hilarious.
It was lovely having everybody together and for once son and daughter managed to get through the week without annoying each other. Maybe it's because they are both parents now so the perspective is different. Son took Noodle swimming every day, twice sometimes, and Noodle 2 had her first swim, well, float, with her Mum. 'im indoors and I found it all rather tiring though very enjoyable. The day after we gave Noodle back to her Mum we did nothing at all and that night we slept for nine hours!! Getting old or what!! We'll be doing it again next year though, god willing, and with a bit of luck and good planning new daughter-in-law will be able to join us for the first time. Still a lot of diplomacy needed on that subject but we'll get there I'm sure. Noodle's Mum is still very anti new wife but once everything has settled down I'm hopeful they will be able to work on some sort of compromising relationship. For Noodle's sake.

Love 'second part of far away'!
Funnily enough my daughter appeared in our garden yesterday in my wellies - hilarious!
Hi Flick - Been admiring your garden! Lovely blooms - the clematis is super (er, it is clematis isn't it?!). As for that fiery azalea - wow. I'm glad you can't see my ailing camelia, it puts me to shame!
And Noodle has beautiful red hair. My nephew's is similar. I just think how much people would pay to have their hair dyed to that rich gloss. Bless her!
Welcome home! Glad you had a good time!
Spectacular pictures! Glad you had such a great time - any many more to come, eh? love Karen xx
Great photos. Love the azalea. I don't have acid soil, unfortunately. I can't recognise the plant in the top photo, though. Nice to have you back!
The second part of far away, simply brilliant.
It's a difficult thing to hand over your precious babe to the new partner, even if you don't want the man, it's extremely difficult to share your beloved babies. I hope it can be worked out.
working mum - precious moments, they grow so quickly. Flick x
merry weather - not clematis but can't remember what it is. It's a shrub not a climber, mmmm, I'll look it up. Flick xx
motl - glad to be back. flick xx
T&C - you betcha!! Flick xxx
mean mom - we don't have acid soil either. Gave the plant it's own bed, removed most of the soil and replaced with ericacious(sp?) compost. It had outgrown the pot it was in and we didn't want to lose it. Seems to have worked!Flick xx
auntiegwen - I hear what you are saying. Noodles mum needs lots of time to get used to son's new wife so we're not pushing. Flick xx
welcome back flick! sounds like there were lots of lovely moments with the family, even though it sounds like there's some thin ice to be tiptoed over!
cute wellies and the garden looks lovely.
Noodle looks gorgeous! Marvellous azealia. Nice garden. Glad you had a good time & we really missed you, though I've been away too.
