Eh Hem.....pass the cucumber sandwiches will you...

Daughter and I had a lovely week together up on the Norfolk coast. The weather wasn't too bad, in fact we had two or three glorious days when we were able to get the slight tan we need to look disgustingly healthy for the wedding. Noodle 2 seemed to grow before our eyes in the fresh air and has learned to roll over - and back during our stay. She's almost sitting up on her own too. The sea air seems to have built her strength up. Here's a picture Sandringham house.

We did ask the Queen to pop over and walk the dog whilst we were out for lunch. She was after all having to walk the corgi's, but do you know, she didn't turn up!! That's the last time I do her dusting for her while she's up in Scotland.
Here's 'im indoors at the campsite looking like he needs a beer! Anybody would think it was hard work putting up an awning!

Here's a more general view of the campsite, at dusk. Looks rather cosy I think

We also visited Oxburgh Hall, a 17th century moated house, though it does look like a castle.

The grounds and garden are beautiful too. Here's the perennial border being patrolled by one of the gardeners. I was waiting for him to step out of shot but in the end had to take the picture as daughter was waiting for me.

Here's one of the spiral staircases inside one of the corner towers. Notice that the handrail is on the left as you go down. That's so that the men defending the house could carry their swords in their right hand. The men attacking had to hold their sword in their left hands coming up the stairs or risk falling on the narrowest part of the step. Clever eh! Most of the UK's castles are built this way.

Here endeth the history lesson......

Only four weeks to the wedding........but that's another story.

Gosh how I would love to be able to see a castle up close and a moated house as well! We just don't have things like that here in the middle of the dry prairies.

We've finally got a bit of sunshine but that was looking like it was becoming history for a while there as well.

Tans for the wedding - and real ones too! Beats going to a tanning salon and much cheaper too!

btw - I just love camping! We have a 13' trailer..really small but just right if you know what I mean. No dusting needed at all!

Beautiful piccies, I particularly like the staircase one, and the 'dusk' one. Glad you had a lovely time - calm before the hustle and bustle of the wedding. Ooh, not long now, then!
love, Karen xx

Glad you had a good time! I'm with working mum. The spiral staircase photo is particularly impressive. We are lucky, in this country, to have so many interesting buildings to be able to look around.
