'Cos whoever it was wants shooting!!
First that feckin Excel Company that went bust took our flight fares with them. (Except that this particular cloud has a silver lining in that we will get our money back because (deep joy) I used a credit card when I made the booking). However, it doesn't detract from the worry and inconvenience of it all, especially as the flights will now cost us an extra £100. Poo and double poo.
Second we were supposed to see Noodle 1 today. It's been a month since we last saw her as her Daddy went on holiday and then we did. Son turned up at Noodles house to pick her up and found nobody at home. No explanations. No apologies. No Visit!! Noodles Mum is suffering bouts of severe depression since the very sudden death of her Dad six months ago (that's all I can put it down to otherwise I'd be saying she was just being nasty) so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt - for now. She's still trying to find who she is without her Dad, whom she depended on completely so I'm hoping that this is just a temporary situation. All the same, it's left us very worried about our future relationship with our grandchild and of course son was very disappointed not to be able to see his daughter.
Thirdly I've just discovered that my best mate has had her worst fears confirmed about her back pain which will probably render her disabled, to a degree, much earlier in her life than she thought. Not life threatening but, as she said, life changing. That's very bad luck and my heart goes out to her.
So, as requested by Bessy Mate here are some pictures of the seaside (and other nice watery places). We couldn't take any pictures last week when we were at the seaside (you may have noticed the rain!!!) so I've dug into the archives for a "cheering up" selection. For you and for me Karen, Enjoy!!

You can just see the sea between the trees (honest). Our favourite place in Lanzarote.

A view on one of our walks in Lanzarote.

The River Nene
The River Thames from the Millenium Bridge with Tower Bridge in the distance.

So pleased to see you back. Your Lanzarote holiday looked lovely.
Sorry about Noodle 1's mum and your friend.
I'm in the same situation with Xl too but I don't know if I can afford the alternative flights now.
So sorry about your bad streak. I hate them, they just seem to go on and on and on. Then they stop, and things go well for awhile.
Is Noddle 1's mum on any meds? I have lifelong depression and I have had to face the fact that I need them in order to be an effective parent/member of society. So sorry you couldn't see her, though. I can't imagine anyone keeping a child from you, however.
The airline situation is not much better here. Seems like many large corporations are going belly up here. Of course, Bush says it's all good. So it must be, right???? Ack.
Hope to come back to see that you've gotten back into an upswing very soon!
Ooh Auntie, sorry about your flights. Still waiting to see if we will see Noodle 1 next weekend. Am babysitting Noodle 2 today so I'm a happy bunny! Flick xxx
mom of three - I know she's having counselling but I think she has bad and good days. Unfortunately we've hit a bad time. This global credit crunch is worrying isn't it. Oh well, I try to stay optimistic. I'm looking after Noodle 2 today and she's a joy! Flick xx
Hi Dusty - have missed your posts so glad to see you are back safely, hope you enjoyed your holiday in spite of weather. And so sorry about all your bad news - hope that's it for a long while. And do hope also that you get to see your little Noodle on a regular basis. Hope her Mum gets better soon.
Lovely to see your photos of Lanzarote, a place we have visited many times and love, though we haven't been for a few years now. Perhaps in the not too distant future.
I am about to jet away myself for a short while - may have time to look in whilst away - we'll see.
A x
strawberry j anne - have a lovely time, hope you find some lovely warm sunshine. Flick xx
Aw Dusty - I truly hope your wee Noodle isn't kept away from you for you are such loving grandparents. You are so good to give her the benefit of the doubt and a bit of space. Fingers crossed eh?
Ah, that is better, Thank You.
(especially as you're currently sitting next to me, cradling a cuppa! Karen xx
so sorry to hear about your friend flick! i know you will be a great support to her, and i hope things work out with noodle 1. hugs
Sorry to hear that you are having a really bad streak. We are also having a really bad streak. Son in law is dying. (41). You can read details in my post. A Modern Fairy Tale. Many other things are going wrong too.
This is the way we seem to go at times. I find it hard when it all goes wrong together, though.
Flick, your pictures are wonderful.Things will work out...... they always do.
mob - keeping everything crossed here. Thanks. Flick xx
t&c - glad you enjoyed them. Why aren't I just telling you this? I'm sitting next to you after all! Flick xx

maggiemay - so sorry to hear of your bad streak. Puts mine into perspective. Thinking of you. Flick xx
There seems to be a lot of sadness about, at the moment. Sorry about yours, but glad that you have seen Noodle 2, at least. I hope that things are looking up, now.
Love the photos - particularly the river Nene one.
Oh dear. Sorry to hear all your news - how disappointing for your son. Hope a reasonable explanation was offered. Tell your friend not to give up with her back - I teach a lot of people with back pain and exercise and a strengthening programme to improve the abdominals and back muscles can really help. Make sure she sees a physio who gives her strengthening exercises and also she should maybe try and do some pilates or water based hydrotherapy exercise Lx
Just catching up Flick, and see you are back but not having a particularly good time! So sorry, and hope that the problems with your little Noodle are sorted out soon. Love and thoughts to you and yours, M xx
Everything okay with you, dear Flick ? xxx
Next week's got to be better Flick!
thanks mean mom, family affairs, mother's place, auntie gwen and the motl thanks for popping by while I've been otherwise occupied. Your concern and support is so appreciated. Hugs to all. Flick xx
