Before you know it the weeks have flown. Since my last post, autumn has arrived. Things here have much improved in that all the news has been good of late. I had a wonderful week with Bezzy mate up in Scotland. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Wonderful company, gorgeous food (we were doing the GI diet and even managed to stick to it for a meal out in the idyllic setting of The Lands of Loyal Hotel).
As always I felt comfortable in the warmth of our friendship which feels as if we saw each other yesterday however many months it's really been.
True balm for the soul.
I came home relaxed and rested, ready for Mum's move from her home in Essex to my neck of the woods in Lincolnshire. I stayed with Mum for three days before the move to help her with a final sort out and the exhausting task of packing up 18 years of living. We had a lot of fun while we did it though and often found ourselves crying with laughter. The move itself went well enough. My brother arrived with a hired van at 11.30am complained that the whole place wasn't boxed yet (!!!), rushed the last few boxes so that a vase got broken and the kettle got left behind (!!!) and on reaching Mum's new flat 100 miles away he and his mate unloaded the boxes and buggered off leaving them all piled up in Mum's sitting room - - - to watch a football match on the telly !!!!!!!!!! (Is it me?)
That was last weekend and me and 'im indoors have spent the week sorting things out - at our own pace to make sure everything was right. 'im indoors has been wonderful. Putting up shelves and wardrobes; fitting things in that didn't want to go and generally making things easier for Mum while she and I went shopping "for England". We trawled the DIY and soft furnishing shops for curtains and bedding. We ordered furniture from the web and once those things arrive the rest of the boxes can be emptied and the little flat will become home.
Son and Noodle 1's Mum have started to talk to each other like adults again. Son is now able to see his daughter on a regular basis again and they're managing to do it without putting me in the middle of it all too which is wonderful. Noodle 1 came round yesterday with her Daddy and certainly doesn't seem to have been affected at all. Which is a blessing.
I wish son and noodle's mum would forget that they are ex partners and start being parents, pure and simple. Even Noodle's Mum's new partner's Mum tried to get in on the act at the weekend as if it's not complicated enough! Give me strength!
I'm really enjoying my Tuesday's now. That's the day I look after Noodle 2 while Mummy (my daughter) goes to work. It's a real treat for me to have baby all to myself for a day. She's a real joy. Nine months old. Crawling everywhere. No teeth. We get covered in baby food (yes both of us!) I take her out in the pram and we watch the leaves blowing and feel the wind on our faces. She laughs at everything and everyone. I feel very privileged to be played a part in her life. We're going to be great friends, I can tell.
Next week is half term so 'im indoors will have the week off.
Please let it be sunny!!!
We've been so busy with family things that (lovely as that is) we're feeling in need of a break and the boat could do with some attention as could the river and the banks the wild flowers and the birds and the locks and the pubs. Is that too much to ask. Can you arrange that please????

I'm glad that things have 'looked up' since your last post. It sounds as if your holiday came along just at the right time and it must be a relief that your mum's move is now over and done with. Now, as for your brother... hmmm... well, at least he turned up and made a contribution, I suppose!
Tuesdays sound like fun and I certainly have my fingers crossed for good weather next week!
Mean Mom - Yes, feeling much better. I think Mum's move took more out of me than I realised. Flick xx
With 'fitting things in that didn't want to go' & 'noodle's mum's new partner's mum' I think you do need a break!
Let's hope the sun does shine on you! love, Karen xx
I'll see what I can do about the weather.
Glad you had such a lovely time away and met up with a good friend and helped your mum to move. Sounds like you are busy and having great fun looking after your little one.
Glad everyone is getting on well together now. Makes all the difference, doesn't it?
Glad you are feeling so much better and that things are going well for you again.
Glad to have you back - you sound very upbeat - I am also keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather next week for you.
Hope you have a good half term. You sound like you need it. Moving a relative is difficult - we moved my MIL to a bungalow nearby and no-one else in her family helped (not even her daughter) so I know how exhausting and emotional it is.
Looks like the weather's good here for half term, I'll pass it on!
t&c - you said it! Luckily we're getting to the end of Mum's "things to do" list now. Flick xx
motl - I'm counting on you! Flick xx
Maggie May - thanks as always. F xx
Softith - Please keep everything crossed! Flick xx
Working Mum - It's nice to know I'm not alone. Why is it some family members opt out at times like this? Beats me. Flick xx
Hoping your mum is settled and the son and ex continue their entente cordiale.
Enjoy your hols, mine went too quickly !
Weather has not been too bad has it Flick? A mite cold but at least we didn't get snow in our part of Lincolnshire on Tuesday. Glad you are feeling more "up to par" now.
I would love to have my mom close by once more.
Happy for you Dusty.
auntiegwen - didn't get away in the end but got a lot done at Mum's place. Enjoyed not having to travel to Essex though. F xx
retiredandcrazy - No snow, but wasn't it cold??? F xxx
aims - I feel very lucky that it worked out so well. Flick xx
Well, I'm catching up with you rather belatedly, and glad to know things have improved all round. It's so good when exes start talking again- let's hope it will go from strength to strength.
And I do hope your Mum settles in well - you could hardly do more! M xx
PS Sounds as if you're having lovely times with the Noodles - that's great!
