Ten Things Beginning with the letter D

Here is a "getting to know you game" devised by a fellow blogger. The "rules" are set out below.

1. Leave a comment on this blog and I will assign you a letter.
2. Write about ten things you love that begin with said letter.
3. Post the list on your blog.
4. When people comment on your list, you assign them a letter, and the game continues

The letter D was assigned to me by the lovely Strawberry Jam Anne.

Here goes:

1. Doughnuts - Says something about me that doughnuts were the first thing beginning with D that came to mind! Ooooh Yummy!

2. Daughter - and my two granddaughters of course. The light of my life, all three of them. My daughter and I enjoy each other's company immensely. We have lots of laughs together and I can't imagine ever being without her. Noodles 1 and 2 just make me smile all the time.

3. Driving - May sound like a funny one but I really enjoy it. After having children it was the thing I most wanted to do when I was a kid. On the bus as a kid, I always sat in the seat that gave me the best view of the driver so I could see what he was doing. I probably get it from my Dad who used to take me and my brother on a long car ride "to get some fags". We explored the countryside all around where we lived in North London. No motorways, far fewer cars on the road, and long conversations. Wonderful memories.

4. Dad - He's 86 now but he still loves cars and driving.

5. Dahlia - One of my all time favourite flowers. We're planning a large bed of them for this year.

6. Dreaming - I spend a lot of time thinking about things. I need some time on my own every day.

7. Dogs - Love 'em to bits. We lost our lovely Bessie a few years ago. Having to put her down was the worst thing I have ever had to do so we haven't had the courage to get another. But we have a surrogate dog in Poppy, our daughter's chocolate lab so I get my "fix" most days anyway.

8. Dusting - Obviously not a favourite! But I do get round to dusting the spiders occasionally.

9. Dancing - If there's a choice to sit it out, or dance. I dance!

10. Downhearted - Who me? Never!

Excellent D's Flick - thanks for playing along. The Dogs reference made me sad -(see my post later today).

Doughnuts made me laugh though and as for Daughters - who'd be without them!

Hope you get lots of comments. A x

Thanks SJA, thinking about Bessie always makes me sad. Flick xx

auntiegwen - Bah, forgot about those! Only one's I've got are tiny, in my engagement ring. Perhaps that's why I didn't think of them. Ah well. Flick xx

I did this, too! It's not easy, is it? Though you've done quite well with this letter. xx

I usually don't play well. But I heard (or rather read) the word donuts. And I love donuts. So I will play. If you want me to.
