Happy and Peaceful 2009 to us all

I have been no different from many of my blogging friends in that 2008 was quite an eventful year. Some good things, some bad. We had a birth, two weddings, a funeral and a house move. Quite enough for one year I think. So my wish for myself and everybody else is that 2009 brings good times and peace of mind.

Christmas and the lead up to it were busy times, hence my lack of posts in the last month. We had a good time though. It was nice to see all the family members and watch the grandchildren with their presents. It's Noodle 2's first birthday in a few days. Can you believe how quickly that has come round? I can't.

I rarely make new year resolutions, mainly because I always give them up by the end of January. But there is one thing I'm trying to stick to and that is to enjoy each day and not look too far ahead (with the exception of booking holidays of course!) I've decided it's no good trying to guess at what other people might do and then basing my plans on those guesses. That always leads to disappointment. Worrying about what is round the corner has spoiled some of my days so I'm determined not to do that this year. I've made a good start too. Instead of getting up early and dashing around in case son or daughter should "pop in" I stayed in bed until 11.30 on Sunday morning and read a book! How's that for decadence. I'm liking this new resolution. I might even stick to it!

Happy blogging one and all!!

2008 was certainly a varied year for you. I can't remember, offhand, much of what happened to me. I went to a wedding and funeral and I'll have to look at the calendar to jog my memory about the rest!

I'm glad that Christmas etc was enjoyable for you. I had flu a few days before, which meant that Christmas and New Year plans turned into a bit of a chore. OK on the whole, however.

I feel very guilty if I sit and read a book. It's very silly, isn't it? I don't blame you at all for having a lie in. Good for you!

I do hope that you will find more time for blogging in 2009. I miss your presence in blogland exceedingly! Enjoy Noodle 2's birthday and I hope that she does, too, of course!

Good to see you back Flick - like Mean Mom have missed your posts. Glad to hear that your Christmas went well and I agree with you about NY resolutions. Good for you too taking some time to yourself to relax.

Hope Noodle 2's birthday is a happy day for you all.

Glad to have you back.
Good idea to take each day as it comes & to try not to worry about anything. Not always easy.
I have no guilt about reading books. Half my life has been spent reading I should think!
Here's to another year of blogging!

Happy New Year, dearest Flick, I have missed your posts too.

I think it should be the law that everyone should stay in bed till 11.30 am on a Sunday, but we should let husbands or children get up and bring the lady of the house a nice cuppa in bed, bliss !

May 2009 be a happy one for you and yours, me dear x

Mean Mom - Hope you're over the flu now. I felt guilty about reading too. There always seemed to be something important to do. Usually a chore of some kind. So I've changed my thinking. Flick xx

Strawberry Jam Ann - I've missed blogging too. I've popped in to read about you all but that's not really blogging is it. Flick xx

Maggie May - Perhaps 2009 will be "the year of the blog". Flick xx

Scrappy Sue - Yes it is a good book - the first of many!! Flick xx

T&C - Lying in bed reading certainly beats rushing around, I'm finding out! Flick xxx

You have made the best resolution ever to take things more easily. People will accept you whatever way you look and will be grateful for whatever time you can spare them. You have a great philosophy for your life now - enjoy and many more happy new years for you and that wee noodle. X

Happy New Year to you too Flick. I heard on the radio this morning that virtually the only New Year's resolution that is kept is the one to be good to yourself. I like that one!
