Moving swiftly on....

First a big thankyou to everybody who sent supportive messages and splendid ideas to my last blog. I feel truly blessed to have been contacted by so many lovely people.

For those of you who want a peek here are the websites where you can see the wedding dresses of our two forthcoming weddings. First, my son's bride: blonde, petite and almost as beautiful as , my daughter: tall, dark haired and beautiful don't they look a picture! I'm sure the dresses will look even better for real. Son and his bride will be having a party when they get back and will wear their wedding clothes again so we can see them properly.

Moving Swiftly On....

We went down to the boat yesterday. It was such a beautiful day and too good an opportunity to miss. We were very pleased to find that the boat had suffered no ill effects from being covered up during the winter. In fact there was only one spider inside! Now that is a record. Usually I have to break the webs to climb in. Oh sorry, is that doing your head in!! I don't mind spiders at all except that, on the boat, they seem to poo everywhere. Now I never dreamt that spiders poo. Did you? Never thought about it. I have to cover the seats with kitchen roll paper in the cockpit and make sure the loo lid is down and covered before we leave to make clearing up a bit easier on the next visit. But I digress. We took the covers off. The wind made it a bit interesting. The larger one nearly carried us off as we tried to fold it! Like a huge sail it was! Our neighbours found it amusing but then came to help which is typical of the club. The next job was putting the batteries back on. I left that to 'im indoors having first found him the necessary spanners while I stuck this year's licence to one of the cabin windows.

Then we thought it would be fun to start the engine. Only it wouldn't start!! Shame that. I phoned the chap who had serviced it at the end of last season and he's coming over this week to sort it out. Having described to him what we had done and the noises the engine was making he decided that it was probably just a small adjustment needed as, "those engines always start first button" which, I have to say, had always been our experience before the service! 'im indoors washed the boat on the mooring side. Next time we go down, presuming the engine has been fixed, we'll turn him round so the other side can have a clean up too (not 'im indoors silly, though he could do with a wash and brush up, the boat!) There's always something to do on the boat but we really enjoy "pottering". We had another beautifully sunny day today but it was filled with -

An early start to be round at daughter's to babysit while she went to a step class. Then a dash back to get ready to go the dentist aaaaarrrggggghhhhhh! I hate the dentist!! No, not her personally, just the whole experience. My coping strategy is to keep as still and quiet as possible while she does the injection, drilling, squirting, suction, filling, smoothing, AS QUICK AS BLOODY POSSIBLE SO I CAN GET THE HELL OUTA THERE!!! Phew. No more visits for six months. What a relief. Then it was home for some lunch (soup - can't chew on the right side until tomorrow). Then it was back to daughter's to pick her and baby up to go into town. We went to the bridal shop so daughter could try on her wedding dress for me to see. Well, you can imagine what happened. You guessed it. A little tear rolled down when I saw her. She looked stunning and that's without the makup, headdress etc. We also bought a gold chain to set off the pendant that daughter will wear on the wedding day. The pendant belonged to my grandmother and I wore it on my wedding day so it's a bit special (see picture above). Having walked all round town for a couple of hours we came home exhausted. But happy. Apart from the dentist which really made me tired, it was so stressful.

I haven't had such a busy day for ages! So now there's tomorrow to look forward to. Moving swiftly on.............

Right, now I've read the rest of the post - moving swif...

Mr T is just the same as you about the dentist. Apart from the cost which he begrudges, he feels most annoyed that you go into the dentist feeling fine, and come out traumatised and sometimes in pain.

He's had to go for two fillings this week as well, so hope you both feel better soon! K xx

Love the dresses. Covet the necklace. Hate the dentist. You're having an exciting time! So much to look forward to! Hope the boat is okay, now.

My eldest son has just given his girlfriend (of 18 months) the 'heave-ho'. She was the best of the lot, I thought, and there has been a lot. I welcome each of my 3 son's girlfriends with open arms and I miss them all when they go!!

The pendant id BEAUTIFUL, it really is!
The wedding dress is beautiful too but I couldn't get the other page to open!
The boat & spiders, phew! Not that keen on boats but I force myself sometimes! I sit near a life jacket! Spiders not at all keen on them! I wonder how I plucked up the courage to come onto your blog with a name like that! Ha ha!
Must dash now.... I'm baby sitting!

Those wedding dresses look absolutely divine! I never had a wedding dress...but when we renew our vows...you better believe I'm getting myself one - I just don't care!

I'm so jealous of the boat...living on the dry prairies of Alberta - there isn't any water. A huge difference from the lakes of my youth! Sigh.

Auntie Gwen - thanks for your comment which I rejected by accident by clicking on the reject instead of publish option.(Sorry!) Please leave your comment again if you wish. Flick x

T&C - Poor Mr T. I was much more comfortable by the end of the day. Hope he was too. I begrudge the cost too but since we've found a private but "pay as you go" dentist it doesn't feel such a rip off.

mean mom - can totally empathise with that feeling when the girls get the elbow. Especially Noodle's Mum, we got (and still get) on really well. Flick x

Maggie May - Have another go at copying and pasting the address - maybe you missed a bit. Hope you had fun baby sitting. Flick x

aims - you must treat yourself to a wedding dress! It makes you feel so special. I would definitely miss the river too living where you do. No chance of being far away from water in this country! You are never more than 70 miles from the sea wherever you live in the UK. Flick x

Those are real dream dresses! Very feminine - good choice ladies!

Spider poo - yes, I've noticed that. Those transparent giants that live in the corners are the worst offenders here. And it does-not-come-off!!

My dentist waits until she's got half a toolbox of equipment in my mouth before she starts asking me any questions. There is no way of answering safely I find, apart from making noises through the back of my nose. Utterly mystifying :)

maggie may - thanks in advance MM I'll be over in a tick to fetch it. Flick x

merry weather - spider poo comes off with a plastic surface cleaner and a stiff brush but I'm sticking with covering it all up with kitchen paper. Saves all the hassle! Flick x

scrappy sue - No flies on me! Flick x

seriously beautiful frocks those.
I did the dentist last week, it just gets worse, but to escape (£160 the poorer but still alive) is almost an achievement. PLEASE never mention spiders again. Feel weak. To think that I now have to think of them pooing as well, OH NO!
